Teacher Grants

Congratulations!

The PTO voted to approve awards in grants to teachers and staff at Green Ridge.   The purpose of the PTO Grant Program is to provide funding to enrich and enhance students' educational experiences and well-being in the school setting, to support teachers in their creative and innovative thinking, and to provide a critical link between the PTO and the school faculty.  Congratulations to the following teachers who were awarded 2016-2017 Grants:

1.      Mrs. Lenno: Growing Informational Readers

Reading clinic and reading WIN students in grades 1-5 will be able to read non-fiction text in Scholastic News subscriptions through both magazine copy and digitally.  This will help with comprehension of non-fiction text for students.

  

2.       Third Grade: Wobble Stools

Five wobble stools will be purchased for each third grade classroom to provide movement breaks for students to increase their ability to stay focused in the classroom.

3.       First Grade: Osmo program

The Osmo program is a hands on approach that helps support language arts and math curriculums within the classroom.  It will be used during guided math, guided reading and English language arts.

4.       Mr. Echelmeier: Robotics & Coding

Mindfulness New Explorations in STEAM during computer class - takes coding to a whole new level through the use of robotics benefiting students in grades K-5.

5.       Second Grade: Who Was/What Was Book Series

Each second grade classroom will receive a total of 19 books between the two series so that they may learn more about famous people, places and events in our history.

6.       Mrs. Mackley: SmartMusic

This program will provide musical accompaniments and repertoire for a variety of instruments and ability levels in grades 3-5.  It will allow students to have access to more music than they otherwise would.

7.       Mrs. Spahr: Haunted Library

Younger students in grades 1-3 have asked for scary and ghost chapter books.  There will be a set of 8 chapter books added to the library.

8.       Mr. Saucier: Guided Reading Stations

Non-fiction reading center kits will be used to supplement student/partner or small group work during guided reading in fifth grade.  Both a 4th and 5th grade reading set will be purchased and each set includes 36 books.
