Mr. Franze grew up in the Chautauqua Lake region of New York. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Childhood Education in 2008 from Oswego State University in Oswego, NY. While working on his Masters of Arts in Literacy Education, Mr. Franze started his teaching career as a first grade teacher in Orange County, Virginia. The following year, Mr. Franze would move to the Washington D.C. area to be a fifth grade teacher at Marumsco Hills Elementary School.
After earning his Masters degree, Mr. Franze sought more leadership opportunities and transferred to the neighboring middle school, Woodbridge Middle School. At Woodbridge Middle, Mr. Franze coached boys’ and girls’ basketball, led the all-boys specialty program, as well as began his Educational Leadership program from George Mason University. In 2016, Mr. Franze earned his principal’s certificate and became the Assistant Principal of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School in Alexandria, VA.
After serving three years as assistant principal, Mr. Franze and his wife sought to be closer to family and find a supportive community to raise their two sons. Luckily, Mr. Franze landed in Cumberland Valley when he accepted the role of principal of Hampden Elementary, where within his five years, the school earned the distinction of being named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
Mr. Franze looks forward to another successful school year with our Gator community!
