Cumberland Valley High School’s track program has built a reputation for excellence, not only in competition but also in the way it develops athletes into disciplined, resilient, and motivated individuals. For senior Vanessa Graziano, her time on the team has been defined by growth, support, and a deep sense of pride in representing her school.
Vanessa emphasized the positive and uplifting culture that sets Cumberland Valley apart. “The track program at Cumberland Valley is honestly spectacular,” she said.
“Everyone on the team pushes each other to improve, whether it’s during workouts or at meets. I really love the environment and the energy the team brings, it’s all very positive, and that’s one of my favorite parts about Cumberland Valley Track and Field. We also do things like team bonding nights, which bring everyone closer together and make it a lot of fun. Our coaches are amazing as well; they’re dedicated to helping every athlete become their best. Pretty much, I feel really motivated and supported by both my team and the program.”
Vanessa credits the team with helping her grow in multiple aspects of her life.
“Being on the team helped me grow a lot in my athletic abilities and my mindset,” she explained.
“I’ve become more disciplined, confident, focused, and committed to my goals. A very important thing is that it taught me resilience. I had a pretty bad injury last year, but I was able to bounce back and keep improving.”
One of the most memorable parts of Vanessa’s career has been competing at the highest levels.
“Competing at big stages like States and Nationals was an amazing experience,” she said.
“The level of competition is high, so it really pushes you to perform your best. It’s very exciting and intense since you’re racing against some of the best athletes, but it made me realize what I’m capable of and it motivated me to keep working so one day I can be at the top.”
Beyond personal achievement, representing Cumberland Valley has given her a strong sense of pride and purpose.
“It feels like it’s an honor to represent Cumberland Valley,” she said.
“I’m so proud of myself and how far I’ve come. Knowing I’m competing not only for myself, but I’m representing the school makes it more meaningful. It gives me a lot of pride and motivation to perform well and show what our program is capable of.”
Overall, Cumberland Valley’s track and field program stands as a powerful example of what high school athletics can offer. Through a combination of dedicated coaching, a supportive team environment, and opportunities to compete at elite levels, athletes like Vanessa Graziano are able to grow into confident, resilient competitors.
